Essex

Throughout the learning for the New York City
Ooh, look out, boys, ’cause it looks so pretty
I mean America, America-ca-ca, aha
Thousands as many can click me from Kennedy
I say the hippy is it, New York City
He said America, America-ca-ca, aha
We’re in America, America-ca-ca, aha.

Well, I really did wanna go there
Look, I’m dancin’ (you gotta go)
Well, I really did wanna go there
‘Till I hit San Francisco.

Well, I landed in the desert in Phoenix
Through Walt K.P.D.
Say I landed in the desert in Phoenix
With the sun shinin’ down on me
Hey now you now you’re really in
America, America-ca-ca, aha
Watch out! America, L.A. Cali CA
We’re in America, America-ca-ca, aha.

Americaaaaaaaaahh
Americaaaaaaaaahh
Americaaaaaaaaahh

Paroles

It’s so nice to be sitting outside with you on my mind
Late in the day I hitched a ride, with you on my mind, I hitched a ride

In the green park ranger’s truck,
He slowed down when he passed me up,
He said Central Park, says it might rain
And I learn another stranger’s name
Late in the day

So how do you like your job I said,
He told me once it’s no good
I lock up the playgrounds, here in the park
I am the bully of New York
Yeah I am the bully of New York

It’s getting dark, so I turn the keys
Kids all think I’m being mean
It’s not easy for me

Working nights, I’m never home
My love and I got divorced
Theres a path of light there in the leaves
I am a man down on my knees
Yeah, I am a man down on my knees

It’s getting dark, so I turn the keys
Kids all think I’m being mean
It’s not easy for me, no

It’s so nice to be sitting outside with you on my mind
Late in the day I hitched a ride with you on my mind
I hitched a ride

The sun was sinking low and grey
Your still on my mind late in the day
Late in the day

Paroles

Well the midnight’s on Manhattan 11th street and all alone
Countin’ cracks beneath my feat ’cause my head is hanging low
And the street lights all down b shining on the falling rain
Shadows dance across the street
Wind seems to whisper her name
But it’s this tired old town another sleepless night
Keep me wandering around down on the lower east side

So lay a star up in heaven shining down from up above
And the city is unforgiving when you’ve got no one to love
But i’ts more and more these days I find I need a place to hide
And it’s easy to get away when your down on the lower east side
Yeah it’s easy to get away when your down on the lower east side

1 Jour 1 Chanson Steve Earle : City of immigrants

Afficher l’image source

Paroles

Livin’ in a city of immigrants
I don’t need to go travelin’
Open my door and the world walks in
Livin’ in a city of immigrants

Livin’ in a city that never sleeps
My heart keepin’ time to a thousand beats
Singin’ in languages I don’t speak
Livin’ in a city of immigrants

City of black
City of white
City of light
City of innocents
City of sweat
City of tears
City of prayers
City of immigrants

Livin’ in a city where the dreams of men
Reach up to touch the sky and then
Tumble back down to earth again
Livin’ in a city that never quits

Livin’ in a city where the streets are paved
With good intentions and a people’s faith
In the sacred promise a statue made
Livin’ in a city of immigrants

City of stone
City of steel
City of wheels
Constantly spinnin’
City of bone
City of skin
City of pain
City of immigrants

All of us are immigrants
Every daughter, every son
Everyone is everyone
All of us are immigrants
Everyone

Livin’ in a city of immigrants
River flows out and the sea rolls in
Washin’ away nearly all of my sins
Livin’ in a city of immigrants

City of black
City of white
City of light
Livin’ in a city of immigrants
City of sweat
City of tears
City of prayers
Livin’ in a city of immigrants

City of stone
City of steel
City of wheels
Livin’ in a city of immigrants

City of bone
City of skin
City of pain
City of immigrants

All of us are immigrants
All of us are immigrants

Paroles

You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down
You just stood there grinning

You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that’s winning

You say I let you down
You know it’s not like that
If you’re so hurt
Why then don’t you show it?

You say you lost your faith
But that’s not where it’s at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
You’re in with

Do you take me for such a fool
To think I’d make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don’t know to begin with?

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say, « How are you? », « Good luck »
But you don’t mean it

When you know as well as me
You’d rather see me paralyzed
Why don’t you just come out once
And scream it?

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
Perhaps I’d rob them

And now I know you’re dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don’t you understand
It’s not my problem?

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You’d know what a drag it is
To see you.

Paroles

Hey taxi, hey, where ya wanna go?
Central Park man, Central Park? Ha, ha, ha

What’s that sound that woke up me
Sounds like drum beats from a native country
Well, I had enough of this hotel room
To last me for a night

So I’m gonna find those drums
In this early morning’s light
Done stepped out in the day feels good outside
Now just to catch a cab and get a ride

Hey, eey, gonna make my way down to Central Park
Hey, eey, gonna make my way down to Central Park

Well, they got girls that’ll tease ya
Hot dogs out of season, card games all night
Inhuman hermaphrodites, they got rings for your fingers
Parties for the swingers

Hey, eey, gonna make my way down to Central Park
Hey, eey, gonna make my way down to Central Park

Hey, eey, they’re really having fun down at Central Park
Hey, eey, ooh, gonna take the subway to Central Park
Hey, eey, gonna make my way down to Central Park
Hey, eey, so you can find me down at Central Park

1 jour 1 chanson Dion : New York is my home

« New York Is My Home » by Dion and Paul Simon (Official Video) – YouTube

Paroles

The morning came today
With rain and sheets of grey
The subway rocked me out of bed
To take me on my way

Where I go, I go in style
Each and every mile
You know, I’m not alone
New York is my home
I got a girl up in the Bronx
She treats me like a king
I’ll give her anything she wants
She is my everything

She can be hard as concrete
Soft as a summer breeze
We can wake the dawn
New York is my home

New York is calling me
It’s on the phone
It’s like the rooftop songs
Up from the cobblestones

You will never hear me say
« The city street’s too loud »
I hear a gospel hymn
In every passing crowd

It trails me and it tails me down
To central park
Even after dark
New York is my home

New York is calling me
And now I find
The city never sleeps
It’s my state of mind

The breezes blow
And take me where the Hudson never flows
The harbour light shines on the piers
As all young lovers know

I can touch the world
As it sails in from everywhere
I’m not alone
New York is my home

New York is calling me
And now I find
The city never sleeps
It’s my state of mind

The breezes blow
And take me where the Hudson never flows
The harbour light shines on the piers
As all young lovers know

I can touch the world
As it sails in from everywhere
I’m not alone
New York is my home

I’m not alone
New York is my home

« Moi, Lil TJay, Kay Flock, Bobby [Shmurda], Rowdy [Rebel].
